21 pianists will perform a free concert in the colonnade of Piazza Plebiscito for Piano City Napoli 2018.
From 23 to 25 March 2018, the successful Piano City Napoli event will return, with the inauguration taking place on 23 March through an evocative concert of 21 pianos performing in Piazza Plebiscito.
In a natural setting of beauty and art, the 21 pianos, distributed under the hemicycle of the arcade and positioned between the columns, will perform unique pieces by great composers of classical music.
Their repertoire will include pieces revisited for the occasion, but without structural or communicative changes. Among them will be Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Bach’s virtuoso Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and Ravel’s hypnotic Boléro.
Before the concert, other compositions will be performed: the tarantellas of Shostakovich and Rachmaninov for two pianos, followed by Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers performed on four pianos and then, in a crescendo of multiple numbers, Piazzolla’s Libertango for eight pianos, until reaching the expected number twenty-one, which will turn the spotlight on the square.
