Until 13 September, outstanding Italian and international guests will make this edition of the Ravello Festival unique, organized in a very short time and amid countless difficulties due to the COVID emergency, but with great pride.
For the Ravello Foundation, led by Regional Government Commissioner Almerina Bove, the realization of the 2020 festival is in fact a tangible sign of responsibility towards a cultural tradition that has never been interrupted for 68 years, and an important support, thanks to the economic contribution of the Campania Region, to the tourist season in one of the most popular places in the world.
The Ravello Festival 2020 presents a symphonic program that combines the international scope of the events with the presence of excellence from Campania and Italy.
In the breathtaking setting of the Belvedere of Villa Rufolo overlooking the sea, one of the most beautiful in the world but also one of the most complicated to set up, with a reduced-capacity grandstand to comply with physical distancing rules, the great names of international music will take turns on stage.
For the first time, Maestro Riccardo Muti will be present in Ravello (1 September); another first will be that of Daniele Gatti, who will debut as conductor of the Mozart Orchestra (Ravello Festival production, 5 September); Villa Rufolo will also welcome for the first time one of the greatest stars of the musical firmament, Cecilia Bartoli, in a concert conducted by Gianluca Capuano with Les Musiciens du Prince (18 August), produced in collaboration with the Lucerne and Salzburg festivals; the pianist Beatrice Rana, already established and still on the rise, returns to Ravello, where she had performed as a very young artist in 2013; great international returns include Valery Gergiev with his Mariinsky Orchestra (29 July), Iván Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra (21 August), accompanied by the voice of Anna Prohaska, Martha Argerich (23 August), and perhaps the most important jazz pianist of our time, Brad Mehldau (13 September).
