FARO di PUNTA IMPERATORE

The Punta Imperatore Lighthouse, located in Forio d’Ischia (Naples) at an altitude of over 160 meters on a promontory overlooking the bay of Citara, is a historic structure that has been in operation since 1884. Iconic in the Mediterranean, it is known for its spectacular views, sunsets, the story of Lucia Capuano (the first female keeper), and its current transformation into an exclusive resort with four rooms and a restaurant.

The lighthouse consists of a 23-meter-high tower located above a two-story house that once housed the keepers. From its position, you can admire Citara Bay, the Poseidon Gardens, the municipality of Forio, the Church of Soccorso, and, on clear days, the Pontine Islands.

Active since 1884 (although other sources indicate that work began in 1879 and electrification in 1916/1923), it projects a double beam of white light every 15 seconds, visible up to 22 nautical miles.

In 2023, the structure was converted into a luxury hotel (Floatel GmbH) with four rooms, a gourmet restaurant called “Luci,” and a rooftop bar, while maintaining the lighthouse’s functionality.
